Post Aesthetic Individualist Anarchism
Forest pursues graphic design through art direction, editions & publishing, branding, web design & development, and other curatorial efforts under the direction of Joel Speasmaker.
Established in 2005, Forest realizes simple, compelling work in both the print and digital realms for companies of all sizes and demands. Agile and adaptable to each project, we strive for open and no bullshit collaboration where both parties contribute freely and ego never prevails! In this mindset, we hold an affinity for small, hard-working and responsible organizations like our own.
Joel founded and published The Drama magazine in 2000 in Virginia, while curating related exhibitions and running The Drama Store through 2007. Between 2012 and 2013, he co-founded and operated Beginnings— gallery in Brooklyn, New York. He has served as art director for Anthem magazine, comics editor for Swindle, and creative director for both Spacebomb Records and Howler magazine. In 2015, he launched the product design company TOOOLS with his wife, artist Caroline Hwang, and continues to oversee all matters of the design practice from the good city of Los Angeles, California.
